Two Fighting Knights

The depicted sculpture shows a scene from the Battle of Baugé in the Hundred Years’ War between England and France in 1421.
The sculpture is known as “Two Fighting Knights, Known as ‘Mort de Monseigneur le Duc de Clarence.’”
It depicts the death of the Duke of Clarence, who fell in this battle.
The group of figures was created by Alfred de Nieuwerkerke, a French–Dutch sculptor and later French Minister of Culture.
