I don’t really have a lot of info on this beautiful, realistic, ornate “One Of A Kind - OOAK” décor piece.
It is a Theater Stage Prop (Theater Name = Unknown) from the 1940/1950s that we purchased from a dealer near the Switzerland / France border.
We have frequented 100’s of flea markets, brocantes in countless countries over our 22+ years in Europe and this is the only Theater Stage Prop we have ever come across …Salesman Samples, yes …but only (1) Theater Stage Prop.
> Approximately 75-80+/- Years Old
> Fabricated of Wood & Plaster
> Ornate
> Clock Body / Case = Good Condition …Meaning, small Knick's but no major damage …for being 8+/- decades old
> Numbered Clock Face / Clock Hands = Paper
> Plexiglass Clock Face Cover = Cloudy / Aged
New owner can decide to leave the existing plexiglass window “As Is”, remove it completely, replace it with a new, clear plexiglass or cut glass (we opted to leave it “As Is”)
> Paint = Good Condition …
Meaning, there is some paint loss here and there that by no means detracts from the uniqueness and beauty of this hard to find piece (See Posted Photos)
Accounting for the age, coupled with its original purpose and getting stored away often, if no stage production was taking place …for a Theater Stage Prop … I would say
…lookin pritttttty gooooooood, for being close to 80 years old. If you want perfect, this would “Not” be the “OOAK” décor piece for you.
If you feel ambitious and/or desire, you could easily mount a clock mechanism into the clocks interior body casing to convert it to being a working clock that sits on a table, shelf, floor or hangs on the wall
You might also choose to repaint it to complement your homes unique interior décor theme.
So you have countless options …create a elegant table vignette, not to exclude the perfect unique decor piece for your child’s bedroom / playroom, as well. It’s one of those unique pieces, where it would be great to see its history passed on, but we wouldn’t be saddened if it remains w/us.
We decided to leave it in its original condition, as purchased.
